Three Tasty Caramel Apple Treats

Hello everyone, welcome back! Today I have a super fun post including one of my favorite childhood treats, caramel apples! I thought I’d mix things up a little bit and think outside the box by figuring out a way to make this tasty treat in three different, enjoyable ways! Read along to see what I came up with! I hope you enjoy!

What you will need

1.  Apples of your choice. I went with five red Honey Crisp apples and five green apples to give myself variety but also to have a nice even number to work with.

2. Meltable caramel candies.  I purchased these candies from my local grocery store which only had these kinds of caramel shown in the pictures! They worked great but the only hassle was each individual caramel is wrapped, so that was kind of a hassle when it came to un-packaging. I saw in a different recipe and online there are meltable caramel candies called caramel bites which are in a circular, ball kind of form which are way easier to work with if you can get your hands on them!

3. Meltable chocolate and white chocolate. These two ingredients added so much to my caramel apples, taste and design wise. For the chocolate I just bought choc late chips and melted them in the microwave. I also purchased these white chocolate wafers which worked the same way. I used both of these and sort of drizzled them on my apples, but they would also make a perfect dipping option as well.

4. Sticks. These white sticks are pretty self explanatory but I bought the ones that are meant for cake pop type treats, but worked perfect for my caramel apples. I’ve also used Popsicle sticks, which work just as well.

5. Wax or Parchment Paper. The wax or parchment paper will be used for a non stick surface to place the apples after you’re done adding all of the caramel and your choice of toppings!

6. Your choice of toppings! Last but not least, the fun part, the toppings! I found these super cute edible googly eyes which created a perfect mummy type looking apple, they were so much fun to work with! I also bought Halloween sprinkles, and nuts! This is really your time to have fun with the treats, so make them your own!

Apple number one: Classic Caramel Apple

These ones were my favorite to make just because they bring so many memories of my childhood, when caramel apples were my favorite treat!

Step one: Melt the caramel over medium to low heat in saucepan and add a splash of milk for texture.

Step two: Push your stick in bottom of whole apple (washed and dried).

Step three: Swirl your apple into the caramel! Make sure it is fully covered and all access caramel has dripped off

Step four: Set on wax or parchment paper! If you want to get super fancy, I’ve seen some people use racks where you can set your apples up to dry which makes the next step a whole lot easier!

Step five: Decorate! There are so many different toppings you can use, so have fun with this step! There is no wrong way to go!

Apple number two: Apple thins

I saw these apples in a video a while back and have been dying to dry them! So easy and yummy! Also super easy to eat, sometimes caramel apples can be super hard to get a hold of, so these treats are perfect if you want that delicious caramel apple, bite but not the mess!

Step one: Cut your apples into about half inch slices or thick enough to fit the stick into the bottom and through the top.

Step two: Cut out the seeds!

Step three: Dip and design! Just like in the previous step, dunk your apple thins in the caramel or your choice of  dipping and them go crazy decorating!

Step four: Because these apples are open, they “go bad” faster than the whole apple would so I do recommend refrigerating these cuties so the caramel and toppings don’t slide off, if you’re not planning on eating them right away!

Apple number three: Apple Wedges

These were also so easy to make and eat! Perfect for a party favor or a birthday party Halloween party or just a grab and go environment.

Step one: Cut and dry apples into a wedge form. As shown below!

Step two: Place sticks in bottom of apple wedge! These apples were the easiest to coat in caramel!

Step three: Place in the caramel or chocolate dip, or both!!

Step four: Go crazy decorating!

Step five: I also recommend refrigerating these before serving, so all your hard work doeskin slide right off! (Trust me, I learned the hard way!)

Apple cider drink

Because all these treats can make one so thirsty, I decided to add in a little “appletizing” drink to go with all your delicious treats! Like if you haven’t had enough sugar yet, right?

I just warmed up a glass of this store bought apple cider, or making your own can be a super fun and 100% more delicious way of enjoying this drink! Then I added whipped cream and a dash of cinnamon for flavor and texture!

How cute are these mugs?! I found them at my local King Soopers! Having a cute, season appropriate mug is a perfect way to enjoy a delicious drink!
