Helpful Moving Tips with Taylor Moving & Storage

Hello everyone and welcome back to MorganneRach,

For today’s post I have something very different from what I typically post BUT I know everyone is going to find this post super helpful at some point and time. Although, I myself am not currently in the midst of a move, I know eventually in the near future I will be. But, I do have some fun yet helpful tips if you or someone you know is planning on making that transition soon.

Calling all Colorado people! Today I will be talking about Taylor Moving and Storage. A little bit about the company before we dive into some helpful tips regarding moving and or using storage, in general.  Taken from their site, this Boulder Moving company is second to none and there are a few reasons why in the small blurb below about what they have to offer.

Taylor Moving is now a full service moving and storage company with locations in Boulder and Longmont CO. We offer complete residential and commercial packing, moving and storage services. We also offer experienced loading and unloading of your rental truck, self storage and shipping containers and have climate controlled secure storage available for any of our move customers. For moves out of Colorado we are an agent for National Van Lines.”

Before I go on to talk more about the company and why (if you’re local) you should pursue, let’s dive into 5 helpful moving tips.

1.Declutter

Although this may sound obvious, to me it may just be the most intimidating task of them all. If you’re anything like me, working to declutter can be overwhelming. Making the big move from living at home with my parents to my own space taught me how to prioritize items and get rid of ones that do not hold value. My suggestion is to remain as honest as possible with yourself while, viewing items as “holding a purpose” and getting rid of the ones that do not.

2.Make a list

If you are anything like me, making a list while preparing to move would be highly recommended. Because I am a Virgo and extremely visual and list orientated this tip may just be the most important. Making lists can be extremely beneficial when moving because it allows you to remain organized while being efficient with both time, money and items while in this big or small transition. Examples of lists I made when I was moving were things like: clothes, bathroom items, donation items, items we need vs don’t need, ect. Obviously lists will vary based on the person but I highly recommend making them.

3.Donate

This tip is very important when moving and something I learned that can be extremely important to the process. While moving, decluttering will almost be a natural step while packing and or deciding what you want to take with you vs not. In my case, even moving from a small bedroom to a full town house, I had a ton of items I no longer wanted, items I grew out of and simply that did not serve a purpose anymore. But,  items you don’t value anymore, someone else just might. I remember while moving Jake and I took, tons of items wither that be clothes, kitchen items, blankets, anything to our local donation center and it was something that we both felt very good about. We will continue to do this for future moves and it’s something I encourage everyone else to make a priority when moving!

4. Pack with Purpose

Another lesson I learned while in my transition of moving was to pack with a purpose. I remember just throwing random items into random boxes and it became very difficult for me when I was unpacking in our new place. If you can relate or it is something you see yourself doing in the future, I advise not to do so. Packing with a purpose means to pack items that maybe fragile together and wrap them with care. (Trust me, it makes a difference). And sorting bathroom items together, in a way that would make sense when you go to unpack. I promise this step will save you so much time!

5. Hire a moving company

This is where Taylor Moving and Storage comes into play! I highly advise using a moving company that you can trust. Moving is already an overwhelming process, so having a company that is local, family owned and dependable is super beneficial.
